achenese lady Extending the Limits, with the support of APHEDA and KSBSI, is helping to re-build the lives of women in Aceh suffering the effects of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. These women have lost their homes, family members and livelihood.

NGIS, through the Extending the Limits Trust, is helping to provide basic skills and business training to women in Aceh in the following areas:

  •  Fish processing and product diversification
  • Production of prawn crackers, dried shredded fish, dried seasoned fish, fish powder and processed bandeng oresto
  • Small business and microfinance

This training allows Aceh women the opportunity to sell produce at local markets, with the knowledge that they have the skills and means to continue to earn a living.

 

The Trust believe in the importance of on-the-ground training after a natural disaster strikes. The strong community involvement in this project will ensure that Aceh has a sustainable economic future.
