Lynne Butler

Lynn Butler Lynne Butler is a training and development consultant with 18 yrs experience working with NGOs in Australia and overseas. Lynne is currently completing her Masters research into NGOs in post emergency countries.

 
Over the last 3 years she has been working in Aceh and Timor Leste for APHEDA, Australian Union Aid Abroad, as a technical adviser. She was able to combine her research knowledge and extensive field experience in assisting local ‘grass roots’ organizations to develop and implement integrated training programs for sustainable livelihoods.


Prior to her overseas experience Lynne worked for many years for the West Australian Department of Training where she designed, managed and implemented many programs for Indigenous people including an award winning, statewide project for Indigenous Education workers.


Paul Harris

Paul Harris

Paul is the Founder and CEO of NGIS, one of Australia's largest GIS consultancies.  His interest in environmental and humanitarian work has seen him involved in projects throughout China, Vietnam, Tanzania, East Timor and Fiji, developing national strategies for the use of GIS and remote sensing and assisting in the practical application of these technologies.

He first went to Aceh in March 2005 where he saw the immediate benefits that GIS could offer to support recovery activities.  Over the next 2 years, Paul visited Aceh repetedly, where he established the Spatial Information & Mapping Centre.  It was during this time that the idea of the Extending the Limits Trust was formed.

Paul has extensive experience delivering GIS solutions in Australia and overseas for organisations including the Australian Government, AusAid, ADB and World Bank. Paul has a Bachelor in Civil Engineering and Postgraduate Diploma in Remote Sensing. In 1992 Paul completed his Masters of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States.

Paul is a founding member of WA AID, an inaugural member of the WALIS Advisory Committee, past Chair of the WA Chapter of AURISA and a member of the Australia Indonesia Business Council
