:: About Us
Whilst in Aceh, Paul Harris became involved with local non-government organizations (NGOs) working at the grass-roots level to re-establish the livelihoods of many individuals, families and communities whose lives had been shattered by the tsunami disaster.
It was obvious that, provided with the right support, local NGOs were an effective means of providing long term sustainable support to these groups. NGIS immediately began providing financial aid to a number of these NGOs.
Our aims
- To work through local organizations to identify and fund projects where the support will make a tangible difference.
- To strengthen local organizations, enabling them to provide continuing support to the groups they support.
- To raise awareness in our own community that change happens slowly in countries recovering from trauma, and any assistance given should reflect the need for long-term, on-going support.
Our philosophy
Extending the Limits Trust was born from the idea that financial disaster relief should be backed up by providing appropriate on-the-ground support and training. The Trust works closely with all participants to ensure the funds are allocated to projects with sustainable objectives, benefiting the community in the short and long term.
